SCAM ALERT! A re-emerging Remote Access Scam has been detected by the NSW Police Force.

Scammers, pretending to be from a financial institution or well-known company, get in contact and ask to access the recipient’s device remotely. They often use the excuse that the device is sending out error messages or has a virus and that they need to ‘fix the problem’.

Various software applications are used by the scammers to access the device, and once they have control, they can access financial and personal data and use this to take funds or private information.

Do not allow anybody to remotely access your device unless you initiated the contact, and are absolutely confident that you know and trust the person. If in doubt, please call your…
